A vibrant cultural centre is coming to the heart of the city, as part of the Tapangka precinct development on Franklin Street.

The Tapangka precinct development, on the former Adelaide Bus Station site, will become the new home of State Opera South Australia, State Theatre Company South Australia and Country Arts SA.

Set for completion by 2031, the purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility in the city centre will deliver major benefits for the arts community, audiences and the broader creative sector.

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) will also call the new precinct home, fostering collaboration, innovation and shared opportunities across South Australia’s creative industries. It will provide a pipeline of South Australian talent, production and programming.

Tapangka is envisioned as an arts and media hub, where all South Australians can experience, participate in and connect with the arts in new and accessible ways.
